Jo (Taijun) Mao

Jo works with a diverse local and international client base advising on both general corporate and transactional matters, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.

Prior to joining Rigby Cooke Lawyers, Jo worked at an international law firm and a specialised mining law firm where he advised US and Chinese investors, including many Fortune 500 companies, on their cross-border investments in the Asia-Pacific region.

• Advising a Chinese state-owned enterprise (SOE) on an acquisition of an ASX-listed infrastructure company.
• Advising a Chinese SOE on a mining (iron ore) joint venture winding up.
• Advising a Chinese SOE on an acquisition of an ASX-listed mining company.
• Advising a Sydney-based hotel company on an acquisition of a Victorian hotel worth $85 million.
• Acting for a world-leading telecommunication company in the restructuring of its entities in China including both assets and employment.
• Advising a world-leading telecommunication company in a sale of asset transaction.
• Advising a world-leading renewable energy company in an acquisition of a large wind power company in China.
• Advising a Chinese entrepreneur in a share dispute worth HK$500 million in Hong Kong.
• Advising an Australian TAFE institute on its corporate structure and business operation matters in China.
• Advising a Chinese internet start-up in Series Pre-A, A and B investments.
