Brighid Virtue is an Associate in our Corporate & Commercial group.
Brighid provides guidance on statutory and regulatory compliance, corporate governance, structuring, business and share sales and acquisitions, as well as drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. She also practices in Australian competition and consumer law, privacy and data protection, and intellectual property.
Working with both local and international clients across various industries, Brighid adopts a practical and professional approach, empowering her clients to make informed, commercially sound decisions about their businesses.
Significant experience
- Acting for a venture capital family office on the $21 million sale of a ready-made meal delivery service to a publicly listed meal kit provider headquartered in Europe.
- Acting for start-up founders on the $4 million dollar sale of their financial services business to a publicly listed purchaser headquartered in Melbourne.
- Acting for a national managed service provider in relation to the acquisition of multiple competitor companies (for example the $4 million purchase of a South Australian managed service provider).
- Acting for a residential property developer in relation to a joint venture to purchase a $10.1 million site.
- Acting for a national furniture manufacturer and seller on the $500,000 purchase of a high-profile, Melbourne-based furniture manufacturing and sales business following the liquidation of the owner company.
- Assisting and advising a leading motor vehicle retailer in relation to the Privacy Act, compliance and mandatory data breach notifications following a potential data breach.
- Assisting in providing time-sensitive advice to an Australian food and beverage company on customer safety, voluntary recalls, food labelling laws and mandatory reporting to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
- Advising a multi-national online gambling company in relation to a £7,000,000 sponsorship deal with an English Premier League football team.
- Advising on the corporate and commercial aspects of a multi-year dispute amongst shareholders in a complex corporate group, including amending the terms of the Deed of Settlement and Release and preparing all documents required to complete a series of share buy-backs.
- Advising a US-based medical treatment centre on operational requirements in Australia, including in their engagement with local medical practitioners, advertising medical procedures direct to consumers, licensing requirements, incorporating in Australia, and in relation to the Australian Consumer Law, the Privacy Act and trademarks.
