With more than 25 years of experience, Rhodie specialises in planning and environmental law issues for predominantly developer clients.

Her expertise also covers approvals for retail, high-density residential, commercial, aged care, childcare centres, alpine and industrial developments, precinct structure plans, due diligence and restrictive covenants.

Rhodie assists clients with projects from concept stage through to construction. She has extensive experience in providing commercially appropriate and strategic advice on planning, environment and land use regulatory issues.

Significant experience

  • Acting for the owner and developer of 700 hectares of land at Mt Atkinson in the preparation of a Precinct Structure Plan for residential, industrial and retail uses including advising on the implications of an adjoining quarry and landfill operation.
  • Acting for various land holders/developers in relation to Precinct Structure Plans and associated Advisory Committee Hearings including Devon Meadows, Melton East and Croskell.
  • Acting for developers of mixed-use, high-density residential developments in various locations.
  • Acting for aged care providers in relation to development proposals.
  • Acting for developers of childcare centres in Glen Waverley, South Melbourne, Brunswick and Mernda.
  • Acting for a developer/operator of service stations, obtain planning approvals and advising on environmental issues.
  • Numerous VCAT, Planning Panel and Supreme Court hearings for a large variety of proposals.
  • Shopping centre development and expansions.
  • Advising the Grollo Group on alpine planning and environment issues.
  • Due diligence on major acquisitions and advising on key planning, environment and land use risk issues.
  • Advising on restrictive covenants including removal and variation.
  • Drafting section 173 Agreements.
  • Drafting infrastructure agreements between developers and authorities.
