Favourite holiday spot?

I love visiting Fiji – the snorkeling is amazing and the people are so warm and hospitable. The Bula Bus which travels to Port Denarau is a lot of fun, and the Naihehe Cave which was used by cannibal tribes is a must-see.

What is an interesting fact about yourself?

I enjoy collecting fossils and gemstones, with my most recent acquisitions being trilobites, one of the earliest forms of marine life. I try to ignore the fact that they slightly resemble cockroaches!

Why did you choose law and your practice area?

I have always been fascinated by the law, since watching Perry Mason in the early days and now reading John Grisham in my down time! I also recall a pivotal event being a high school excursion in legal studies, when we went to talk to people incarcerated at Barwon Prison. Their stories were so diverse and their interactions with the law had such a big impact on their future, I found that very interesting.

I enjoy working in the field of taxation law because it is so complex and challenging, I find it interesting how tax law is constantly changing in accordance with policies of our Government, it is a very dynamic field of law.

What is the best piece of advice you can give lawyers starting out today?

Believe in yourself and have confidence in your abilities, and there is no such thing as a silly question!

What excites you about Rigby Cooke’s new South East Business Hub?

I am excited that our South East Business Hub will help us reach out to clients in this region, allowing us to better understand the needs and challenges of this particular client base. I also think that the Hub demonstrates our commitment and accessibility to our clients in this region.

What do you think sets Rigby Cooke Lawyers apart from other firms?

I think that Rigby Cooke has a strong understanding of the needs of its clients and has its finger on the pulse – Rigby Cooke is able to predict and respond to client needs in a proactive manner. For instance, if we understand that an upcoming change to the law will have implications to our clients, we will communicating with those clients and work with them to manage these issues.

I also think that Rigby Cooke is innovative in how it seeks to support clients, such as the establishment of the South East Business Hub.
