Rigby Cooke Lawyers’ Corporate & Commercial group advises luxury hotel investor and developer, Mazen Tabet and the Tabet Group, on the successful acquisition of United Places Hotel in an off-market deal.

Located at 157-159 Domain Road in South Yarra, United Places Hotel is internationally regarded as one of Australia’s most sophisticated small luxury hotels. Designed by award‑winning architect Sue Carr, the building presents a striking modernist façade and features a ground‑floor fine dining restaurant with twelve luxury suites above.

The acquisition of United Places Hotel follows other recent purchases which includes the Adelphi Hotel in Flinders Lane, the Lyall Hotel and Spa in South Yarra, and the purchase and subsequent extensive renovation of the boutique luxury Royce Hotel located on St Kilda Road.

Rigby Cooke Lawyer’s Managing Partner and Group Leader of Corporate & Commercial, Bill Karvela, commented:

“Rigby Cooke Lawyers is very proud to be associated with the Tabet Group and its recent acquisition of the United Places Hotel. This acquisition is a further step in the Tabet Group expanding its extensive luxury hotel accommodation portfolio, which includes the Adelphi Hotel, the Lyall Hotel and Spa, and the Royce Hotel.

“We have had a longstanding association with the Tabet Group which began in 1999 with the disposition of the Bundoora Hotel. We look forward to continuing to work with the Tabet Group and its ongoing success.”

Bill Karvela was the lead advisor to the Tabet Group and was assisted by Ian Rosenfeld, Brighid Virtue, Jeffrey Or and Meagan Calamatta from our Corporate & Commercial team, as well as David McLaughlin and Maddy Lodge from our Workplace Relations team.
