Stuart Miller

What is your morning ritual/exercise regime?

I often find that fast walks around the neighbourhood and nearby parks are great for exercise.

How do you unwind?

Spending time with my wife and daughter as much as possible and when we can, taking trips down to the Bellarine Peninsula.

What do you enjoy most about working in the legal sector?

I have always found working in construction, engineering and projects to be incredibly rewarding, no matter what the scale of the task. I have worked in this sector since my first day of legal practice. I enjoy being a problem solver, an advisor and part of a team that assists clients in realising their projects. That, together with the constant challenge to distil an often complex combination of legal considerations into practical steps and workable outcomes.

What is the best piece of advice you can give lawyers starting out today?

Practice in a sector that genuinely interests you; be accessible; always ensure you take responsibility for your own learning over and above what is offered to you in the ordinary course of things; take every opportunity to meet clients, industry contacts and other lawyers – “be a sponge” so that you can develop skills to apply your law degree to the real world.

What are you looking forward to?

Having joined Rigby Cooke in early 2021, I am looking forward to growing with and contributing to the Construction & Projects team, our clients and the sector in which we work.

What do you enjoy most about working with your clients?

Helping clients realise their goals and being in a privileged position to provide some stewardship whatever their journey, issue or project may be, is really rewarding.
