The position

The primary objective of this position is to provide generalist HR support and play a key role in contributing to the development and implementation of HR initiatives that support Rigby Cooke Lawyers (RCL). This includes recruitment and retention, HR operations (ELMO management system), learning and development, employee engagement and employee relations.

Duties and responsibilities

Recruitment and retention

  • Assist with recruitment and selection processes, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, pre-employment checking and offer management.
  • Utilise recruitment tools, such as LinkedIn Recruiter / Seek Talent Search to source talent.
  • Coordinate RCL’s graduate recruitment program.
  • Conduct exit interviews.
  • Manage work experience and placement processes.

HR operations and data management

  • Manage and develop HR systems (ELMO).
  • Management of RCL’s documentation and legal requirements including Practising Certificates.
  • Provide information and reports, as required.
  • Ensure onboarding, termination and departure processes are followed, correctly recorded and automated.
  • Manage position descriptions and KPI documentation for each rank and role.
  • Create and maintain employee data including contract management and files.

Talent development

  • Manage RCL CPD program, including maintaining and creating systems to monitor and record CPD attendance, updating CPD register and producing reports.
  • Conduct new employee onboarding and orientation sessions, ensuring a smooth transition into the organisation.
  • Coordinating learning and development sessions, arranging calendar invites, book meeting rooms, and monitoring attendance.
  • Research and develop learning and development programs.
  • Offer guidance to staff on learning opportunities.
  • Facilitate the cyber awareness training platform, and other e-learning platforms, as required.

Employee engagement

  • Manage wellbeing initiatives, such as Flu Vaccinations, R U OK Day, etc.
  • Coordinate RCL rewards and recognition program.
  • First Aiders and Fire Wardens responsibilities and management of OH&S practices within RCL.
  • Develop and execute employee engagement surveys including results analysis.

Employee relations

  • Assist to provide HR advice on health, mental health, discipline, performance, and other workplace relations issues.
  • Manage HR Policies.
  • Monitor employee probation periods and assist leaders in conducting timely reviews.

Qualification and experience

  • Understand the Australian legislative framework, including the Fair Work Act.
  • Proven experience as a HR generalist or coordinator with a good understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Comfortable with complexity and ambiguity.
  • Excellent technical skills and ability to learn new systems (knowledge of ELMO advantageous).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
