Professional biography:
Grant has practised for more than 15 years exclusively in commercial litigation, with particular emphasis on property, retail and trade practices litigation.
Acting both for landlords and tenants in over 200 retail disputes, Grant has advised on issues concerning misrepresentation, unconscionable conduct, rent reviews, relocations, lock-outs, and ownership of fixtures and fittings.
Grant also advises major private and government clients on a broad range of commercial disputes. He has spoken at numerous seminars and contributed many articles on retail tenancy issues and Trade Practice Act claims.
In addition to tenancy and property related litigation, Grant is experienced in a wide range of commercial litigation.
Significant experience:
- Acted for Lend Lease for the past 10 years in all its Victorian shopping centre litigation and disputes
- Acting for NEC in a $3 million employment contract
- Acting for City of Yarra in a number of major disputes, including:
- litigation over the tender for the Fairfield Park Boathouse
- the dispute with Collingwood Football Club over the condition of Victoria Park
- Acting for a shopping centre landlord in a Supreme Court trial, and subsequent appeal, in defence of a claim for breach of an exclusivity provision in a tenant’s lease
