Professional biography:
Arthur is an Accredited Tax Law Specialist and a widely published writer on taxation issues, with articles appearing in mainstream media, as well as industry journals from Taxability, the Taxation Institute of Australia and similar groups.
Arthur started his career in 1985 when he joined a major international accountancy firm. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987.
He joined Rigby Cooke in 2001 and has been a member of our Taxation team since that time.
Prior to joining legal practice, Arthur held senior management positions in the transport and motor vehicle industries. He has extensive experience in all areas of direct and indirect taxation, domestic and internationally.
Significant experience:
- Conducting complex litigation and negotiations with the Australian Taxation Office and State Revenue Office on taxation disputes, legislation interpretation and stamp duty
- Advising companies and directors on all areas of tax law, including advice on thin capitalisation, transfer pricing, debt/equity, CGT, GST and FBT
- Advising international companies on import and export duties and taxation treaty issues
- Contributed to Treasury's review of the changes to s109UB proposed by the Taxation Board of Review
